Juliy Marie Pilates – Current Recipient

 Carolyn Hatfield Scholarship Recipient and Her Essay

“All of us who knew Carolyn were devastated by her sudden passing, but no one more so than her friend and pilates teacher Juliy Marie. There was an unbreakable bond of friendship between them, and Carolyn was 100% committed to her pilates workouts.

When Juliy shared with me her plan for a memorium by creating THE CAROLYN HATFIELD SCHOLARSHIP I remember saying how much Carolyn would have loved the idea! She was an incredibly generous woman, and so would have embraced the idea of scholarship.

Last September I went with my fiance on a six day hut to hut hiking trek that involved steep and rugged terrain. I trained for months and performed decently, but it was the hardest thing I had ever done. It let me know that I needed to build much more strength, which I believe I could do with pilates.

I have some training with mat pilates, but could not afford to graduate to the true pilates experience with a teacher of the caliber of Juliy Marie! I am so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to apply for THE CAROLYN HATFIELD SCHOLARSHIP. If I am lucky enough to receive it I promise to make Carolyn proud.
